With only 4 days left to enter NewStar, many, many, many questions are being asked regarding entries and other specifics regarding the competition. Please have a read and of course if something hasn’t been addressed, do not hesitate to contact us.
1. Am I allowed to enter a photograph, a 3D piece and a film all in one entry?
No. Each category is judged separately e.g. Industrial Designers will judge 3D and film makers/digital artists will judge multimedia. We do not ask all judges to view every entry as there are so many, they would be sitting there for a month getting through everything! You are however able to enter each category separately.
2. Am I able to enter multiple images for each 3 piece I want to enter?
No, you are only able to upload 3 files/1 image for each piece to The Loop that is to include a description of the project. However, you are able to upload one file that includes multiple images of the project all on the same page.
3. Do you have any tips on the content I can submit and how to best represent my work?
Unfortunately we are unable to give specific tips on what to enter as it would not be fair for the other entrants.
4. I only want to submit one film but I can only upload 1 mins clips but my film goes for 2:45?
You can submit 3, 1 min long clips of the same film OR 1 min clips of 3 different films.
5. Can I submit works that have been entered into other competitions?
Yes

It would have been awesome to know that entrants could only submit 1 min clips, Because of that (silly) rule I couldnt get mine in on time

You will note in the ‘How to enter’ section that it clearly states clips are only able to be 1min long:
Category 1 – Multimedia
Includes video, short film, animation, television advertisement, motion graphics, website walk through, computer game demonstration, digital moving image, etc. NOTE: these can only be 1 minute long and must be in .mov format.
Though you feel it may be a silly rule, we do this for the benefit of our shortlisting judges (as you can imagine we get a lot of entries and must regulate the duration otherwise there could be hours and hours of footage for them to watch).
