You will note in the ‘How to enter’ section that it clearly states clips are only able to be 1min long:

Category 1 – Multimedia
Includes video, short film, animation, television advertisement, motion graphics, website walk through, computer game demonstration, digital moving image, etc. NOTE: these can only be 1 minute long and must be in .mov format.

Though you feel it may be a silly rule, we do this for the benefit of our shortlisting judges (as you can imagine we get a lot of entries and must regulate the duration otherwise there could be hours and hours of footage for them to watch).

I’m sorry you missed out, there is always next year!

As far as the The Loop job application thing goes, it seems to just allow us to apply but it doesn’t let us at any point tell that job application (or in this case category) which project/s you are submitting for it. I have several for different categories which are also in a pool of other non-NewStar projects so I was wondering how they will know which ones go to respective categories…

..I’m guessing that provided you have the category in your project title the judges will know what’s what and that is enough…?

I’m a little unclear as to what you’re asking. You must apply for the Multimedia Job specifically, are you doing that?
You must then create a project that includes your entries and then upload that to the job. Here are the instructions just in cast and the link to the Multimedia job.

Already have a profile on The Loop?

1. Create a Project for your Submission: Login and click EDIT PROFILE>PORTFOLIO>ADD PROJECT:
a. Title project: (Your Name) – NewStar Submission
b. Upload 3 pieces of work ONLY, clearly titled with a 25 word description of each.
c. Fabrica award applicants need to submit an additional project titled (Your Name) – Fabrica Folio This MUST be a 10 page PDF or a multimedia reel ONLY and must include Resume, Contact Details and brief description about yourself.

2. Apply: Submit your application http://www.theloop.com.au/agideas_newstar/jobs

As it states in how to enter (above) you need to submit a 25 word description for each entry and give it a title. It can be “Name 1″ Name 2″ Name 3′ if need be.

If you would like to only submit one file you’re more than welcome to however you would be at a disadvantage as you’re being judged on a body of work.
If you do decide you only want to submit 1 piece the reason we ask you to submit clips is because each entry can not be longer that 1 minute.

All the projects have the same name e.g :

(My Name) – NewStar Submission

Furthermore, it seems that despite only having one movie file there, the submission is still accepted… So we CAN actually submit just one film file….?
